Younger generations are showing a shift in attitudes towards their work and careers. As a result, attracting and retaining talent can be rather challenging. But why are values and attitudes shifting? And how should we deal with this trend? Aljan de Boer from TrendsActive will help us to understand the changing needs and behaviour of our younger workforce also known as millennials or Generation Y. This presentation will provide insights from the fields of psychology and sociology to help us build an understanding of the needs and behaviour of millennials. Furthermore, the presentation will give practical advice on how dental companies could prepare themselves for their colleagues of the future.
To this end, Aljan de Boer will explain in which ways generations differ from each other and how that causes friction on the workfloor. Numerous companies are struggling with managing the so-called unmanageable and entitled millennials. These perceptions of the millennial generation are only as true as the assumptions on which they are based. This presentation will provide a more nuanced perspective on the millennial generation. Becoming aware of generational similarities and differences will provide mutual understanding of generations and will enable dentists and dental companies to better communicate and collaborate with their colleagues and motivate their staff.
